lyrics

LITTLE ACTS OF KINDNESS

My battery went and died overnight
So my phone didn't hear the news
That noon was now calling
And I know I should've gone to bed
Instead of watching animals on YouTube
So I stumbled down the stairs
Shuffled across the floor
Put the kettle in the fridge
And the milk in the sink
And eventually found my coffee in the cutlery drawer

Then I remembered that I did the washing last night
So I got clean clothes to wear
Then I remembered that I didn't hang them up to dry
I'm a soggy damp despair
Then I rejoice for the moment
No time to dwell or fear
And I smile and think yes!
At least I've got dreadlocks
So I don't have to brush my hair

And my little world of chaos
I'm trying to change
And I'm blessed by acts of kindness
And I'm thankful every day
These little acts of kindness
Cos we are all the same
We are chaos in order
And order in chaos
Like sunshine when it rains

So I dig through the laundry pile
For the best of the bunch
But my top smells of smoke
And that stain on my sleeve
Is definitely yesterday's lunch
So I rolled up my sleeves
Grabbed my keys and grabbed my bag
And instead of hearing clinking coins
I hear silence instead

And oh my little world of chaos
I'm trying to change
But I'm blessed by acts of kindness
And I'm thankful every day
These little acts of kindness
Cos we are all the same
We are chaos in order
And order in chaos
Like sunshine when it rains

So off in the van I go
I got time to make it still
But I go around the corner
There's a bus, there's a lorry
And a dude who's lost his shoe
And I hope and pray that somehow
They'll disperse down little lanes
And the road will be mine
I'll get there on time
And the shoe will be reclaimed

And oh my little world of chaos
I'm trying to change
But I'm blessed by acts of kindness
And I'm thankful every day
These little acts of kindness
Cos we are all the same
We are chaos in order
And order in chaos
Like sunshine when it rains

So I pulled into the carpark
In the nick of time, woah
This guy was leaving
He was speeding
He was probably late too
But he stopped and said stranger
I don't need this do you?
And I said, oh my god, yes please
I really do
So in my hand I had a ticket
With five minutes left to go
And this guy he didn't have to stop
And he'll probably never know

But oh these little acts of kindness
Cos we are all the same
We are chaos in order
And order in chaos
Like sunshine when it rains

And my little world of chaos
Is with me every day
And your little acts of kindness
Are more beautiful than I can say
